Design Engineer

April 24, 2024

Schier, an employee-owned and operated business based in Shawnee, KS welcomes you! We are guided by our Purpose to ‘make the world better by serving and providing for our employees', and we deliver on our Purpose by focusing on a very defined niche - being the product and knowledge leader in the treatment of kitchen wastewater. Trust us, it's more interesting and fulfilling than you might think!

We develop hard products, service, and software products for the commercial kitchen market (restaurants, hotels, schools, churches, stadiums, etc.), as well as the residential kitchen market (single family homes, short-term rentals, high-rise condos, etc.). Commercial clients include City Wastewater Authorities, Plumbing Engineers, Plumbing Contractors, Restaurant managers and Chain Restaurant Construction managers, as well as Plumbing Wholesalers (resellers). Residential clients include homeowners, Architects, Kitchen Designers, and online and brick and mortar retailers. If you have experience working with these types of clients – or want that experience – this role will be a great fit.

Our Design Engineering Team is made up of Mechanical Design Engineers who are tasked with the design of all new products and the refinement of our existing catalog of products.  Throughout each of these projects our engineers may work through design concepting and sketching, SolidWorks 3D modeling, hands-on prototyping, testing on our state of the art test rig, and everything involved in the final launch of each product.

  • Be a process follower and disrupter - execute projects within our defined process and question everything we do to uncover waste and inefficiencies.

  • Be a team member and an individual contributor - work as part of a fast moving, dynamic design team and contribute on an individual basis to the success of all projects

We train our team to help them succeed, and everyone on our team helps with our success. In this role, you’ll be accountable to and know you are doing well if you hit the following numbers:
