We are searching for an Associate Software Business Analyst to join our team and play a key role in the success of our software development projects. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute directly to the development and delivery of high-quality software, working alongside our experienced software engineering team in crafting "king-brand" user experiences and beautiful, usable interfaces.

Schier’s Software Engineering team is responsible for the daily development and monitoring of various custom and self-managed software products. Most software maintained by our team was built completely in-house by our team of capable software developers, which includes Schier’s website and all other supporting services and systems. Our software team aims to further solidify Schier as the leader in both grease interceptor construction and digital customer experience.
Based on project goals, collaborate with project stakeholders and the software engineering team to gather project requirements and deliverables.
Provide context to project tasks based on discussions, interviews, and workshops conducted with all concerning parties.
Lead project/task grooming sessions to unearth tasks to be completed that contribute to the solving of the project goals.
Proactively identify and resolve issues with internal projects and software, while handling increasingly more complex projects and tasks.
Guiding and mentoring junior business analysts and team members, providing training and support, and fostering professional development.
Project Discovery and Grooming Workshops: Preparing and facilitating workshops with both stakeholders and Software Engineering team members to discover and refine the necessary tasks to fulfil project goals.
Analyzing Requirements: Analyzing gathered requirements to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and conflicts. This may involve collaborating with stakeholders to clarify ambiguities or resolve conflicts.
Process Modeling: Creating basic process models (e.g., flowcharts, mind maps) to visually represent business processes and system workflows.
Creating User Stories: Writing user stories that are concise, clear, and easily understood by developers and other team members. While the format is not strictly governed, the task’s assignee should have a complete picture of the requirements to complete it effectively and efficiently.
Training and Development: Participating in training sessions and workshops to improve product, industry, and customer awareness.
Documentation: Developing precise and succinct requirement documentation through diverse methods including user stories, use cases, process diagrams, and data models.
Decision-making: Make sound and timely decisions, even under pressure, and justify those decisions to stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing software development projects, consistently demonstrating successful project analysis and delivery.
Significant understanding of software development technologies and processes, allowing effective communication and collaboration with technical teams. While not requiring coding, the ability to understand technical challenges and contribute to technical discussions is crucial.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. This also includes the ability to skillfully navigate disagreements and conflicting priorities among stakeholders while still achieving a positive outcome.
Experience working effectively with various teams across different departments (e.g., engineering, design, marketing, sales)
Diverse and detailed experience with pre, post, and mid-project meetings and rituals (post-mortem, grooming, etc), with the ability to customize a process to the requirements of each project.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues from various departments.
Proficiency in using project management software (like ClickUp, Jira, Asana, etc)
Proficiency in using process (mind) mapping tools (like ClickUp, Miro, Lucid, etc)
Certifications in specific management methodologies (SCRUM) are a plus
Data analysis skills may be helpful on some projects
Comfort with performing application testing to aid in quality assurance
Experience managing external vendors and contractors effectively
Experience with CDP (Customer Data Platform) instrumentation and configuration
Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
Experience with relational databases and APIs (REST and GraphQL) is a plus
