In July 2025, Schier launched the Fast Pitch riser system - which not only introduced a revolutionary new riser solution but also revamped the entire buried installation experience - the fastest and easiest riser system ever.
We believe that continuous improvement better serves our customers. We listened to feedback from the field, and learned that riser assembly - on any buried tank - is a long, tedious and sometimes expensive step in the installation process. Schier customers deserve something better. Enter Fast Pitch!
Accelerate your installation
The Fast Pitch riser (FP24) offers up to 95% installation time savings from Schier’s previous FCR2 design. What’s more, there are zero tools required for a flush-with-grade finish and the risers arrive at the jobsite completely ready to assemble - no cutting means zero waste.
The stack, twist and lock functionality of the new riser is so quick, easy and even satisfying, you’ll want to do it again and again. More importantly, the assembly is intuitive. Not only can you feel the risers lock together, but molded-in visual cues allow you to see them line up perfectly into place.
The risers are made from lightweight (only eight pounds each) and durable polyethylene that are both impact and corrosion resistant. Each FP24 riser includes a pre-installed, heavy-duty gasket for a tight seal eliminating odor and water infiltration, without the need for added adhesives.

The improvements didn’t stop with the riser itself. The entire assembly, from the tank neck up, received significant enhancements designed to improve the overall installation experience.
Refine your installation
The redesigned cover adapter can be adjusted up to 5 inches and tilted up to 5 degrees in any direction allowing it to make grade with a flush finish and no unachievable dimension in-between.

Improved support
The new cover adapter flange features concrete-flow channels to promote a more secure encasement into the concrete pad at grade.
The Safety Star that sits directly under the cover, also received some recent upgrades. First introduced in 2019, the Safety Star was designed to prevent accidental entry into the interceptor that can result in serious injury. The upgrades include a more robust design, a molded-in center nut to fasten to the pedestrian cover, a locking ramp to hold it in place, and a product identification label with a QR code for maintenance and jurisdictional personnel.
Neck gasket with band clamps
The neck gasket, which secures the cover adapter to the top Fast Pitch riser, features stainless steel band clamps with new adjustable quick release latches for the fastest and easiest installation yet without the need for any additional components or tools.
When aesthetic meets function
Tank ringsColor coded rings make it easier to distinguish between the product types: blue for grease interceptors, green for solids interceptors and red for sampling ports. Just another way to spot one of our tanks in the field and know, “that’s a Schier.”
*These rings are only available on new (since July 2025) Schier products that include a 24-inch cover.
StandoffsThe tank rings include locking slots for the new standoffs, which provide support for the cover adapter while in transit and function as tie-downs for above grade installations. These standoffs replace the adapter tie-down kit (ATD1) previously recommended for floor below installations.
CoversAnd finally, the only component that you can see post-buried install: the cover. All Fast Pitch compatible models now come standard with a temporary cover.
The temporary cover takes all the dings, scrapes and concrete residue that can occur during transit and installation. Then, it can be replaced with a finish cover post-install. The lightweight temporary cover allows for a closed grease interceptor to be shipped safely, while finish covers ship separately.
Note: A QR code on the temporary cover allows an installer to scan into an installation tips webpage.
After installation, the temporary cover will be replaced with either the pedestrian-rated polypropylene P24-GI cover or the traffic rated cast iron T24-GI.
P24-GI
The P24-GI pedestrian cover, rated to 2,000 lbs. includes a center bolt which fastens the cover to the safety star. The cover is gasketed for an odor-proof airtight seal for indoor, outdoor and above grade applications where it will not be exposed to vehicular traffic.
The T24-GI pickable cast iron cover is H-20 rated to 16,000 lbs. and recommended for traffic rated applications. The T24-GI is also gasketed and air-tight to prevent odors from escaping. This cover should be selected for indoor and outdoor buried applications where vehicle traffic will be present. This cover is heavy and should not be used for above grade installations, or in-ground in commercial kitchens.

The new sunflower design pays homage to our home state.
We took the opportunity to revamp our cover design to reflect our brand and stand apart from every other manhole cover. The sunflower design does just that and pays homage to our home state of Kansas - the sunflower state.
The design also includes the cover’s load rating - molded in - for helpful identification of cover type in the field.
